Warp April 15, 2026 Changelog

This update is all about making Warp's AI features smoother and saving your computer's resources. It matters most to developers who use AI agents to write code and anyone who works with multiple terminal tabs open at once. You will notice fewer frustrating glitches, better auto-complete suggestions, and an AI assistant that keeps better track of what it's doing.

What's new

• Track long AI tasks: When the AI is running a command that takes a long time, Warp now shows a "Last seen by agent at" timestamp. This helps you know if the AI is actually paying attention to the latest output or if it got stuck.
• Searchable AI Skills: You can now search for custom "Skills" (saved AI instructions) right from the Agent Mode menu. Just type @ and pick the skill you want to use.
• Send review comments to any terminal: If you leave a comment on a piece of code, Warp used to send it to the terminal you were currently looking at. Now, it can send it to any open terminal. If your main terminal is busy doing something else, Warp is smart enough to send the comment to an idle terminal working on the same project.
• More ways to connect AI tools: You can now set up file-based MCP servers (external tools that give the AI extra data) using simple settings files, either for your whole computer or just for your current project.
• AI profile sharing: "Child agents" (helper AIs that branch off your main AI) now automatically use the same AI model and permissions as the parent AI.

Improvements

• Massive auto-complete expansion: Warp now auto-suggests commands and flags for a huge list of tools, including aws, docker, git, yarn, npm, ros2, and many more. This means when you start typing a command, Warp will guess the rest of it, saving you time.
• Code review buttons: The buttons to leave comments on code are now visible even if you have the AI features turned off.
• Visual tweaks: When you use a "Skill," it now shows up in a cool purple highlighted text, just like standard slash commands (like /help).

Fixes

• Security patch: Fixed a hidden security flaw (a "heap overflow") in a video component that could have let bad code run on your computer.
• Fixed long AI prompts: Previously, if you typed a really long prompt for the Claude AI, Warp might cut it off. It now sends the whole thing.
• Fixed settings reset: If you were logged out and created a new account, your settings used to wipe back to the defaults. That's fixed.
• AI conversation recovery: If the AI server crashes or drops the connection, Warp now shows a "Resume Conversation" button so you don't lose your work.
• Memory savers: Fixed two big memory hogs. Animated GIFs in markdown files and searching through files with super long lines of code (like minified JavaScript) used to eat up all your computer's RAM. Now, GIFs just show their first frame, and search is much more efficient.
• CPU saver: Fixed an issue where having multiple terminal tabs open in the same folder would trigger way too many background git status checks, slowing down your computer.
• Unsticking the AI: Fixed a bug where the AI would freeze up if a long command finished exactly when you tried to take back control of the keyboard.
• Better clicking: The clickable area for the AI's "Thought for X" text used to stretch across the whole screen. Now, only the text and the little arrow next to it are clickable, so you don't accidentally click it.
• Window names: If you gave a tab a custom name, the main window title used to ignore it. Now it respects your custom names.
• Command fixes: Fixed auto-complete for git push (specifically for force-pushes), fixed a bug where kubectl completions broke if you put a namespace flag before the command, and fixed npm i so it suggests the right thing.
• Codebase indexing: Fixed an issue where Warp would repeatedly get "403 Forbidden" errors when trying to index huge codebases.
• Cursor fix: Fixed a minor annoyance where your cursor would change shape when hovering over text in the ask-question menu.
