Visual Studio Code v1.127 Changelog

Visual Studio Code's latest update is all about making AI coding assistants (called "agents") smarter and easier to manage. If you use AI to help you code, this release helps you keep track of multiple AI tasks, fix errors faster, and lets the AI actually test the websites it builds.

What's new

• Browser tools for agents: AI agents can now open web pages, take screenshots, and click around to validate the apps they just built. This means the AI can test its own work in the browser to make sure it actually works.
• Per-site browser permissions: When a website wants to use your camera, location, or connected devices, VS Code will now ask you for permission for each specific site, keeping you in control.
• Chat input banners: If you have an open "pull request" (a request to merge your new code into a main project), you'll see a banner right above your chat box. If automated checks fail or teammates leave comments, you can click a button to let the AI fix the issues without leaving your conversation.

• Leave feedback in the editor gutter: The "gutter" is the empty space next to your code line numbers. You can now hover over a line of code and click a button to leave a comment right there, telling the AI exactly what to change.
• Forking chats: If you want to try a different path in your conversation, you can "fork" it (split it into a new chat). This new chat stays in the same window and remembers everything up to the point you split it, but runs independently.
• Troubleshoot command: You can now type /troubleshoot to have the system analyze your chat logs and figure out why the AI is acting weird, ignoring your instructions, or being slow.

Improvements

• Organizing agent sessions: When you have a lot of AI tasks running at once, the list gets messy. You can now group related tasks together, drag and drop them to reorder them, and collapse groups to hide the clutter.
• Better pull request details: When you ask the AI to create a pull request, it now looks at the whole conversation to write a much more accurate title and description, saving you time from fixing it yourself.
• Multi-chat management: You can run several chats at once in a single window. It's now easier to open, close, hide, or delete them using tabs. Plus, the system now shows the progress and file changes for *all* your active chats, so you know exactly what the AI is doing.
• Smoaller layout fixes: The buttons at the top of a session look cleaner and fit better. Also, when you open a session, your cursor automatically jumps to the chat box so you can start typing immediately. If your window is narrow, the sidebar will auto-hide to give you more room to code.
