This release is mostly about polishing the desktop experience. If you use the desktop app, you will notice fewer crashes and a cleaner interface. It also introduces a handy technical feature for power users who want to run background commands alongside the main app, and it fixes a connection issue for developers using older add-on tools.

What's new

  • Optional sidecar service: You can now turn on a "sidecar" feature. In computing, a sidecar is a smaller, background program that runs alongside a main app to give it extra features. In this case, it runs the app's command-line tool (CLI) in the background of your desktop app.
  • Collapsible settings: When you go into the V2 settings to pick an AI model (the "model provider"), those menu sections can now collapse. This makes the settings page much less cluttered, letting you focus only on the services you care about.

Improvements

  • Cleaner project view: The V2 home screen used to have extra vertical lines (borders) separating projects, which made things look a bit boxy. Those are gone, giving it a sleeker look.
  • Better scrolling (thanks to a community contributor!): A community member fixed a bug with the drag-and-drop code so that when you drag items on your screen, the page will still scroll up and down the way it should.

Fixes

  • Fixed a crash that broke navigation: A memory cleanup process (called "Solid") was glitching and causing the whole app to crash, making it impossible to click around. That's been patched up.
  • Fixed home screen freezing: Sometimes, loading your recent chat sessions on the home screen would put the entire page on pause (suspending it) so it couldn't update. It now loads properly in the background.
  • Fixed connections for older tools: The app broke compatibility with older "MCP SDK clients" (software tools that use an older set of rules to connect and share data). It can now talk to these older tools again without any issues.
