OpenCode v1.18.4 Changelog

This release is all about making the app smoother and less frustrating to use. If you use OpenCode to write software, especially the desktop version, you will notice fewer glitches when typing prompts, reviewing code changes, and connecting to different AI models.

What's new

• Smarter AI reasoning summaries: When using certain AI models (like the Kimi family) through Anthropic-compatible platforms, the AI can now adjust its "thinking" effort on the fly. By default, it will give you a neat summary of its reasoning rather than a massive wall of text.

Improvements

• Terminal matching: The built-in terminal now automatically changes its colors to match your app's overall theme.
• Better code review panel: When looking at code changes (diffs), your open file tabs stay perfectly lined up. The panel is also easier to resize and keeps its buttons from scrolling out of view.
• More reliable chat box: The prompt input area was completely rewritten. This makes typing commands, adding files, and looking at your chat history much more dependable.
• Faster AI connections: Tweaked the connection settings for OpenAI so it won't time out as easily when your internet is acting a bit sluggish.

Fixes

• Lost drafts: If you were typing a command and clicked away, your draft used to disappear. Now it saves it.
• Crash prevention: Fixed an issue where the app would crash if a chat message was missing some background link data. Also stopped the app's crash-recovery tool from accidentally trying to fix windows that were already closed.
• Accidental blank messages: Fixed a bug that let you accidentally send an empty message to the AI.
• Menu navigation: Restored the ability to easily select different versions of AI models, and added helpful tooltips so you can see keyboard shortcuts when hovering over the chat box.
• Cleaner code summaries: Removed duplicate file names from showing up in your code change summaries.
• Azure support restored: Fixed a broken link so the app can properly connect to AI models hosted on Microsoft Azure again.
• AI thinking settings: Fixed an issue where the app would ignore an AI provider's specific "thinking" rules and use the wrong backup settings instead.
