This update is all about making the AI assistant more visual, safer to use, and way more reliable. It’s especially great for developers working on remote computers over the internet, but it also makes the everyday chat experience smoother for everyone.

What's new

• Picture this: You can now add images to your chat by typing @ and mentioning the file. This works with AI models that have "vision" (the ability to see and understand pictures).
• Delete your history: You can now easily delete past chat sessions.
• Easier remote login: If you are working on a computer far away (like over an SSH connection) and a web browser won't open to log you in, the app now gives you a web link you can just copy and paste into your own browser.
• Smarter trust prompts: When the app asks if you trust a folder you're working in, it now looks at the overall "git repository" (the main folder where your code history is stored) instead of just the exact spot you're in.
• Environment settings: There's a new way to configure the app using "environment variables" (special background settings on your computer that start with the word VIBE_).

Improvements

• Safer file writing: The tool the AI uses to create files now *only* creates new files. It will refuse to overwrite a file that already exists, which stops it from accidentally erasing your hard work.
• Updated communication: The app updated its internal "agent-client-protocol" (the behind-the-scenes language it uses to talk to other programs) to version 0.10.1.
• Better error warnings: If the app tries to read a SKILL.md file (a file that teaches the AI how to do a specific task) and the file is broken, it now pops up a little toast notification to tell you, instead of just quietly ignoring it.

Fixes

• Network survival: If your internet blips out or a connection times out while the AI is thinking, it will now automatically try again instead of just failing.
• Fixed pop-up windows: When the AI asks for your approval to do something, the pop-up window now resizes itself so you can always see the "yes/no" buttons at the bottom, even if the text is really long.
• Accurate tool counts: The main screen and the tool panel now correctly show which tools are actually turned on and usable, matching your personal settings.
• Smarter tool settings: If you turn off certain tools in your computer's background settings, the app now combines those with your normal settings instead of completely ignoring your normal settings.
• Keyboard shortcuts fixed: Pressing shift + backspace or shift + delete while typing now works the way you'd expect.
• Crash fixed: The app stopped crashing when the AI tried to update a to-do list but messed up the format of its request.

Breaking changes

• New tool formats: The way the AI formats "read" and "edit" tool calls has changed. This could break things if you have custom setups that rely on the old format.
• No overwriting: Because the file-writing tool now refuses to overwrite existing files (see Improvements), any setup that relied on the AI overwriting files will now fail.
• Removed nested searches: The app no longer searches deeply through all your folders for "harness files" (special test setup files). If you relied on it finding these automatically in hidden sub-folders, you'll need to point it to them directly.
