Lovable's August 6, 2026 update is all about making your workspace run smoother when things get complicated. If you're building a massive app, this release gives you a way to speed up your screen preview by turning off the live server. It also helps anyone adding AI chat or tools into their own apps make the waiting experience less awkward for their users.
What's new
- Turn off the live preview: Usually, Lovable tries to run your app live in a background server (a "dev server") while you build it. If your project gets really big, that can slow your computer down. Now, you can go to *Project settings → General → Preview* and switch off the live preview. Instead of running live, it will just show the latest saved version of your app. It only updates when Lovable finishes making a change, rather than trying to update constantly while it's working. This setting applies to everyone looking at the project, but editors can turn it back on whenever they want.
- Show the AI's thinking in your app: If you are building an app that uses AI, you can now ask Lovable to add a "thinking" display. When your app's AI is working on an answer, users will see a summary of how it's solving the problem up on the screen, instead of just staring at a blank loading page. It’s a cleaned-up summary, not a bunch of confusing computer code, and it only shows up when your app asks for it. Just keep in mind that because this text counts as part of the AI's output, using it will cost a bit more than getting an answer without it.
Improvements
- Even if you turn off the live preview, Lovable doesn't go blind. It still builds and tests your changes, and it can still see behind-the-scenes stuff like errors, console logs (the app's internal diary), and network requests (how your app talks to the internet) from that saved version.
Fixes
- Fixed an old shortcut: Holding down the Shift key while clicking Refresh used to completely restart the preview environment. It doesn't do that anymore, so your refresh button just works normally now.
