What changed in Grok Build CLI v1.0.7, released 2026-08-19 — explained in plain English.

TLDR
  • You get way more control over "workflows" (automated tasks), including new menus and commands to manage them.
  • New "Always allow" and "Never allow" buttons make dealing with permission pop-ups much less annoying.
  • You can now delete background tasks straight from the system tray, and status bar scripts can update on a timer.
  • Several bugs were fixed, including crashes on startup and the AI getting stuck repeating the same action.

This update is a big step forward for anyone who uses Grok to automate their work. It introduces a bunch of new tools for managing "workflows" (multi-step automated tasks) and gives you much finer control over what the AI is allowed to do, saving you time and clicks.

What's new

  • New Workflows menus and commands: You can now easily see and manage your installed workflows (automated tasks). Just hit Ctrl+L or type /plugins to see the new Workflows tab, or use the Ctrl+P command menu. Typing /workflow or /workflow runs in the chat now shows you a live view of your active and recent tasks, including how far along they are.
  • Smarter permission pop-ups: When Grok asks for permission to use a tool or visit a website, you can now choose "Always allow" or "Never allow" for that specific project. This means you won't have to keep approving the same things over and over.
  • Delete background tasks from the tray: If you have scheduled tasks running in the background, you can now delete them right from the system tray icon (the little icon down by your computer's clock) instead of having to dig through menus.
  • Timed status bar scripts: If you use custom scripts to show information on your status bar, they can now update automatically on a timer using a setting called refresh_interval.
  • Adjustable startup wait time: If the app takes a little too long to connect when opening, you can now give it more time by changing a setting called GROK_CONNECT_UI_TIMEOUT_SECS.

Improvements

  • Email addresses that appear in the app's text viewer are now clickable, so they automatically open your email app to write a message.

Fixes

  • Fixed startup crashes: Sometimes, if you had multiple windows open, they would all try to refresh their login at the same time and cause the app to freeze or time out. That collision is now fixed.
  • Stopped the AI from repeating itself: If the AI got stuck in a loop trying to use the exact same tool over and over, it now realizes its mistake much faster and stops, saving you time.
  • Fixed a login bug for background tasks: When running the app in the background without a user interface, it was incorrectly demanding a login password for tools that don't actually need one. This is fixed.
  • Restricted a tool for helper-AIs: The app sometimes gives tasks to "subagents" (helper AIs). These helpers no longer have the ability to ask you questions, which keeps them focused on doing their job instead of bothering you.
