This update is all about making the app smoother and less frustrating to use. It gives you better tools to manage how the AI searches the web and handles background tasks, while fixing a bunch of annoying bugs where your typing or pasted images would randomly disappear.

What's new

• Smarter web searches: You can now use the config file to create an "allowlist" (sites the AI is only allowed to search) or a "blocklist" (sites it should never search).
• Interrupting nicely: There's a new setting that lets your queued messages jump into the conversation immediately, instead of waiting for the AI to finish its current thought.
• Better text selecting: You can now drag your mouse to select and copy text on the session info screen. Double-clicking highlights a single word, and triple-clicking highlights a whole paragraph.
• Loop task warnings: If you set up a repeating background task (a "loop"), the app will now warn you in the chat when the task is about to automatically expire after 7 days.
• Tool rewriting: If you use custom automation scripts (called "PreToolUse hooks"), they can now actually change what a tool is about to do, rather than just saying "yes" or "no" to it.
• New event trackers: The app now tracks when a task gets canceled before it finishes, and it passes a special ID to external tools so they know exactly which chat session they are working in.
• File links: Clicking a link in a markdown document will now open files right from your current folder.
• Search control: If you share your Grok setup with other users on the same computer, you can now turn off the session search feature to save resources.

Improvements

• Less memory used: When background helper tasks (subagents) finish their work, the app clears them out of your computer's RAM to save memory. If you need to look at them again, it just reloads them from your hard drive.

Fixes

• Saved typing: Fixed bugs where text you typed while the app was starting up—or while it was generating a plan—would get deleted when a new screen popped up.
• No more accidental sends: If you are typing a message and line it up to send next, it won't accidentally send itself while you're still editing it.
• Healed bad images: Fixed an issue where if the AI rejected an image you uploaded, that broken image would "poison" the chat and cause future messages to fail. The chat is now permanently healed from this.
• Better permissions: The auto-permission mode now correctly respects your specific "always allow" rules instead of ignoring them.
• Accurate stopping: Pressing Ctrl+C or [stop] now correctly cancels the exact background task you are looking at, instead of stopping the whole main session.
• Smarter pasting: If you paste text or drag an image into the app while looking at the chat history, it now automatically moves your cursor to the text box and pastes it there.
• Clearer errors: When a background script (hook) fails, the app now shows you the actual error message it printed, instead of just a confusing number code.
• Waking up tasks: Background tasks that you stopped from the user interface will now properly wake the AI up if they need to, instead of staying frozen.
• Fixed queued commands: If you edit a waiting message to be a command (like "/btw"), it will now actually run that command instead of sending "/btw" as a plain text message to the AI.
• Windows and Linux fixes: Pasting image-only screenshots from tools like Flameshot now works on Linux without errors. Also, certain file and folder commands now work properly on Windows.
• Keyboard fixes: The dashboard shortcut (Ctrl+4) now works on older terminals, and permission settings you choose on the welcome screen now correctly apply to your new chat.
