Goose v1.46.0 Changelog

This update is all about giving you the steering wheel. Whether you're a casual user who wants a cleaner chat history, a developer who needs to review code, or someone running AI locally to save money, this release adds a ton of new tools, settings, and shortcuts to make Goose bend to your specific workflow instead of the other way around.

What's new

• Project organization: Your chat history is now grouped by project in the sidebar, making it way easier to find old conversations. You can also search through your past chats right from the navigation panel.
• New slash commands: You can now type /model to quickly switch the AI brain you're using, /status to check what's happening under the hood, and /goal to make the AI double-check its own work before finishing a task.
• Code review tool: A new goose review command lets you ask Goose to look over your code locally and suggest improvements, just like a human teammate would.
• Better cost tracking: Goose now shows you exactly how many "tokens" (chunks of words) the AI used and how much it cost for every single message, including a running total for your whole session.
• Live command output: When Goose runs computer commands for you, you can now watch the text scroll by in real-time instead of waiting for it to finish.
• Session sharing and importing: You can now securely share your AI chat sessions with friends (using encrypted "Nostr" technology) or import sessions that others share with you.
• Local AI upgrades: If you run AI models on your own computer instead of the cloud, Goose now supports Apple's MLX format and Linux's Vulkan graphics tech for faster local performance.
• New AI providers: You now have more options for which AI service to use, including Celeris, Friendli, Azure AI Foundry, and OllamaCloud.
• Hooks (safety nets): You can set up "hooks" that automatically block the AI from using certain tools if you want to be extra careful.
• Background tasks: The "Summon" extension lets you send the AI to do tasks in the background while you keep working, and you can peek in on its progress.
• Deep links: You can use special goose:// web links to instantly start a new chat or resume an old one.
• Image reading: Goose can now actually look at and understand images you give it, not just text.
• Custom skills: You can now turn off built-in "skills" (specific things Goose knows how to do) if you don't need them, and the chat box now lets you easily pick skills to use.

• Smarter memory: Goose now handles your chat history in a way that saves cached information better, which means it costs you less money to run long conversations.
• Cleaner interface: Multiple back-to-back tool uses are now bundled into one neat summary card, so your screen doesn't get cluttered. The sidebar is also resizable, and you can export your chats as Markdown files.
• Better login: Goose now automatically refreshes your login tokens behind the scenes, so you don't have to keep signing back in every time you open the app.
• Offline docs: You can now set up a local folder for Goose's documentation, meaning you can read the help guides even if your internet is completely disconnected (air-gapped).
• Sleep recovery: If your desktop app goes to sleep or loses its internet connection, it will now automatically reconnect your background sessions without losing your place.

Fixes

• Termux installs: Fixed an issue where the installer wouldn't correctly detect Termux (an Android terminal app), meaning it would download the wrong version of the app.
• Tool limits: Fixed how Goose handles limits on how much text a tool can spit out, making sure it doesn't crash or cut off awkwardly when reading huge files.
