Goose v1.43.0 Changelog

This release is all about giving you more control, better organization, and more choices for your AI models. Whether you are a developer building apps or just using Goose to help you write code, you'll now find it much easier to keep track of your AI spending, organize your chats by project, and connect to a wider variety of AI brains.

What's new

• Cost and speed tracker: You can now see exactly how many "tokens" (the basic building blocks of text that AI reads) each message uses, how much it costs, and how fast it generated the response.
• Project grouping: Your chat history is now neatly grouped by project in the sidebar, making it much easier to find past conversations.
• More AI models: Added support for several new AI models, including the GPT-5.6 family, GLM-5.2, and local Ollama cloud setups.
• New languages: The desktop app is now available in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Indonesian, Malay, Vietnamese, and Traditional Chinese.
• Edit before branching: A new --edit command lets you tweak a conversation history before splitting it off into a brand-new chat session.
• Delete custom apps: You can now delete custom apps directly from the user interface instead of doing it manually.

Improvements

• No more frozen code: Added safety timeouts to code execution and developer tools so they don't run forever or freeze up your system.
• Smarter local AI on Macs: Switched the local Mac AI engine (MLX) to a safer, more reliable system called safemlx.
• Clearer settings: Renamed the "Session" settings tab to "External Backend" to make it clearer where you configure outside AI services.
• Extension help: If an extension doesn't have an automatic install link, Goose now clearly shows a "manual setup" indicator so you know you have to set it up yourself.

Fixes

• Sleep reconnection: Fixed an issue where the desktop app would lose its connection to background processes when your computer went to sleep or lost internet.
• Gemini login: Fixed a bug that caused logins to fail when setting up Google's Gemini AI.
• Older CPU crashes: Fixed a crash that happened on older computer processors (CPUs) when trying to run local AI models.
• AI "thinking" errors: Fixed bugs where complex "thinking" steps from DeepSeek and Anthropic models would cause errors or get cut off during long chats.
• Ghost chats: Cleaned up "phantom" empty chat sessions that would sometimes clutter your history when you opened the app.
