Devin CLI v3000.4.16 Changelog

This release is all about making Devin easier to control and more reliable. It matters most if you use Devin to write or review code, especially if you use advanced setups like enterprise accounts, external coding editors, or custom plugins.

What's new

• Double-tap Esc to stop: You can now press the Escape key twice within three seconds to interrupt Devin while it's working. (You can still use Ctrl+C to stop it instantly).
• Better rule discovery: Devin now looks for instruction files (like AGENTS.md) hidden inside specific folders. It reads these rules and only applies them to the folder they are in.
• Track questions in history: When Devin asks you a question, that question is now saved as a step in your history. You can go back to that step to answer it differently or branch off from there.
• Enterprise account info: If you use a company (enterprise) account, typing devin auth status will now show your main organization.

Improvements

• Smarter plugin installs: When you install a plugin (an add-on tool), it now saves to your personal account by default and syncs across your devices. If you only want it on your current computer, you can use a --local flag.
• Safer folder attachments: When you attach a new folder to your workspace, Devin now checks if it's safe to trust. It temporarily grants write access to that folder while you use it, and removes that access when you're done. Any special skills in that folder also show up instantly.
• Better fast mode: Using the /fast command now automatically picks the newest, fastest AI model available (SWE-1.7 Lightning), but will fall back to older fast models if needed.
• Clearer menus and errors: The menus for slash-commands are now neatly aligned and easier to read. When a command is blocked for safety reasons, the error message tells you exactly which security layer blocked it.
• Smoother session recovery: When you save, pause, or go back to a previous session, it now keeps all your titles, modes, and usage stats perfectly intact.
• Helpful quota messages: If you run out of your allowed usage, the error message now gives you a direct link to the settings page where you can buy more.
• Removed shell integration: A preview feature that connected Devin directly to your computer's terminal (shell integration) has been removed.

Fixes

• Fixed freezing on password prompts: If a command asked for an admin (sudo) password, Devin used to just freeze and wait forever. It now fails quickly and explains why.
• Fixed notebook edits: When editing a code notebook, Devin used to accidentally wipe out extra data in the file. It now changes only the exact cell you want and leaves everything else untouched.
• Fixed large file reading: Devin used to get stuck reading massive files over and over. It now reads them in smaller, organized chunks. It also fixed a glitch where finished commands would randomly pop back open.
• Fixed third-party editor questions: If you use an outside editor like Zed, Devin can now properly ask you questions because it uses a standard communication method.
• Fixed silent failures: If the AI refused to answer a prompt, it used to just end quietly. It now shows a warning. Also, image prompts no longer stop working after the AI writes a caption for them.
• Fixed duplicate workspaces: Going back to or resuming an old session no longer accidentally copies your workspace files a second time. You can also repeat special skills after restarting a session.
• Fixed Linux startup hangs: On Linux computers, Devin used to freeze when checking large lists of files. It now safely skips file rules it doesn't understand without crashing.
• Fixed plugin cleanup: Uninstalling a plugin now properly stops its background servers. It also saves your plugin list safely so that a sudden crash can't delete it.
• Fixed instant updates: Special features tied to your account or team now refresh instantly when you log in or switch teams, instead of making you restart.
