Devin CLI v2026.7.16 Changelog

What changed in Devin CLI v2026.7.16, released 2026-06-16 β€” explained in plain English.

TLDR
  • Devin can now install "plugins"β€”bundles of new skills you can share across different coding projects.
  • Admins got new superpowers to strictly control what commands Devin is allowed to run and which plugins are allowed.
  • It's now much easier to log into Devin when using outside code editors like JetBrains or Zed.
  • This update is mostly about giving big teams safer ways to expand Devin's abilities.
  • This release is all about customization and control. It matters most to teams using Devin Local (Devin running on your own computer) who want to teach it new tricks safely. You can now add pre-packaged skill sets, while bosses and admins get stronger tools to lock down what the AI is allowed to do.

What's new

  • Plugins (Beta): You can now install bundles of new skills (called "plugins") from places like GitHub or a folder on your computer. Once installed, you use them by typing /<plugin>:<skill>. Plugins can automatically require other plugins to work together, or block conflicting ones from running at the same time.
  • New Plugin Commands: You can now manage these bundles easily. You can install them (devin plugins install), see what you have (devin plugins list), check what skills they include (devin plugins info), update them (devin plugins update), or delete them (devin plugins remove). If you update a plugin from a local folder, your edits show up instantly without needing to reinstall.
  • Admin Controls for Commands: Team admins can now make exact "allow" or "deny" lists for terminal commands. They can use exact names or wildcards (using a * symbol to stand in for any word) to block dangerous commands.
  • Admin Controls for Plugins: Admins can now completely turn off the ability to install plugins for their whole organization. If turned off, Devin will refuse to install them and will ignore any that are already installed.
  • Stronger Local Restrictions: The setting that turns off CLI (command-line interface) access now actually works for Devin Local, including blocking connections to outside AI servers.

Improvements

  • Better Logins for Outside Editors: If you use third-party code editors like JetBrains or Zed, the sign-in process is fixed. Both the browser login and the manual /login command now use Devin's official login system, so it works in places where it used to get stuck.

Fixes

No fixes were specifically highlighted in this release beyond the login improvements above.
