Continue v1.2.23 Changelog

This update is all about cleaning house for our VS Code extension (a tool that adds AI coding helpers right into your code editor). It matters to anyone using Continue to write or understand code because it removes distractions and makes the initial setup process much more straightforward.

What's new

• Clearer model choices: When you first set up the app, it now asks you to pick specific AI models (like GPT-4 or Claude) by their exact names. Before, it used "Hub slugs," which are shortcut nicknames for models that could sometimes be confusing. Now, what you see is exactly what you get.

Improvements

• Smoother onboarding: The whole setup process for new users is cleaner because you don't have to guess what those old shortcut nicknames meant.
• Better deprecation warnings: A "deprecation banner" is a pop-up warning telling you that an old feature is going away. The link in this warning that lets you export your settings has been updated to work better.

Fixes

• Removed a distracting banner: We got rid of a pop-up banner that kept nagging you to install the command-line tool. It was just getting in the way of your coding.

Breaking changes

• Removed the "Generate Rule" feature: We took out an older feature called "Generate Rule." If you relied on this specific tool to create rules for your AI, you won't find it in this version.
