This update is all about making the Codex CLI (a command-line tool used to run AI coding agents) faster, more secure, and much better at working across different operating systems. What's new

• Super-secure remote connections: When you run code on a remote computer (a remote executor), Codex now uses highly secure, end-to-end encrypted channels (called Noise relays) to keep your data safe from prying eyes.
• Smoother cross-platform work: If you are running code between different operating systems (like sending a command from a Mac to a Windows server), Codex now perfectly remembers your exact folders, command-line shells, and file permissions.
• Better plugin management: You can now run specific tool-sharing plugins (using a standard called MCP, or Model Context Protocol) for individual tasks. There is also a new "created-by-me" section to find your own plugins, along with curated lists based on your login.
• More control for app developers: Developers can now see sub-tasks (child threads), track what external AI agents are doing, and view or use "credits" to reset their API speed limits.
• Real-time voice and chat tweaks: For real-time apps, you can now directly add speech, control how the AI joins the conversation, and skip the initial setup text to get started faster.
• Smart countdown timers: In the terminal interface, if Codex asks for your input and you walk away, it can automatically make a decision after a countdown. If you start typing, the countdown pauses.

Improvements

• Faster speeds and less memory use: Codex is now much faster and uses less computer memory during long sessions with lots of tools. It does this by remembering tool searches (caching) and not making unnecessary copies of your chat history.
• Smarter memory limits: To keep the app from hogging your computer's memory, Codex now limits how many images it saves in its temporary memory (capped at 64 MB) and limits feedback uploads.
• Better terminal resizing: The text in your terminal window will now always automatically wrap and adjust nicely when you resize the window.

Fixes

• Database corruption fix: Updated the built-in database (SQLite) to a version that prevents a known bug where data could get corrupted during a reset.
• Windows sandbox fixes: If you run code in a secure, isolated environment (a sandbox) on Windows, Codex will now automatically fix expired login keys (credentials) and give PowerShell commands more time to finish.
• No more disconnected servers: Fixed an issue where remote servers would disconnect if they sat idle for too long. Also, if you type a command, it will now instantly interrupt an agent that is waiting.
• Enterprise network support: Added support for a specific type of security certificate (P-521) so Codex can connect to secure school or company networks.
• Security and plugin cleanup: Fixed bugs where security permissions weren't carrying over when pausing and resuming tasks, and cleaned up duplicate plugin settings.
