- Two older AI models, GPT-5.4 and GPT-5.4 mini, are leaving Codex on August 31, 2026.
- You will need to switch to newer, recommended models before that date.
- This only affects people logging in with a ChatGPT account; developers using an API key (a special passcode for apps) are not affected.

- After August 31, 2026, the GPT-5.4 and GPT-5.4 mini models will stop working for ChatGPT users. If you don't update your saved settings, custom AI helpers, or scheduled tasks to use the newer models, they will break. You must replace
gpt-5.4withgpt-5.6-terra(GPT-5.6 Terra) andgpt-5.4-miniwithgpt-5.6-luna(GPT-5.6 Luna) before the deadline.
