It matters most to anyone who uses Cline for heavy, daily coding tasks—especially people who leave lots of windows open or use custom AI setups—because it stops annoying crashes, lost settings, and random sign-outs.
Fixes
- Random sign-outs: If you updated Cline while an old window was still open, that old window could accidentally steal your login token and sign you out. Now, old windows just ask you to refresh once, keeping you logged in.
- Broken save points: "Checkpoints" (like save states in a video game) are now created reliably. If you rewind to one, it restores your *entire* project folder instead of just a few files.
- Lost settings: If you typed in custom settings (like API keys or web addresses) before the app finished loading, it used to silently delete them. Now it saves what you type.
- Disappearing typing: Fixed a glitch where letters you typed into custom web address boxes would vanish.
- Frozen tasks: If you edited a message while the AI was waiting for your permission to run a tool, the app used to freeze. It now handles this smoothly. Also, tasks no longer freeze when a background terminal command finishes.
- Missing files in commits: When the AI writes a message to save your code (a "commit"), it now includes brand-new files that haven't been tracked yet, instead of ignoring them.
- Windows PowerShell: Fixed an issue so that special Windows Store PowerShell profiles run correctly.
- Better error messages: If your connection drops, you now see the actual error from the AI provider instead of a confusing, generic "failure" message.
- Slow local AI support: If you use Ollama (a tool to run AI locally on your computer), it now waits up to 5 minutes for the AI to start up. Previously, "cold" starts would just crash.
- Clearer menus: The model picker menu now shows the correct, easy-to-read names for free and recommended AI models.
- Video support: Fixed a bug so that AI models that can watch or process video keep that ability.
- Glitchy borders: Fixed a minor visual bug where the colored border around the text box didn't always match where your cursor was actually clicking.
