Cline v4.1.10 Changelog

This update is all about making the AI smarter and fixing annoying background crashes. It mostly matters to developers or power users who might be running multiple versions of the app at the same time, or who want their AI to have real-time access to the internet to answer questions better.

What's new

• Web search for AI: If the AI model you are using supports it, it can now look things up on the internet while it works on your project. You can turn this on in the Feature Settings. The search questions and the answers it finds will show up right in your chat, and they won't disappear even if you restart the app.

Improvements

• Updated AI options: The list of AI models you can choose from got a refresh. It adds a new company called Crusoe that provides AI models, and it updates the default models recommended for all the different providers.
• Better memory cleanup: When the app runs small, isolated programs (called sandbox processes) to test things, it used to leave them running in the background even when they were done. Now, it shuts them down when they are idle, which saves your computer's memory and resources.

Fixes

• Stopped the "crash loop": Previously, if you had two different versions of Cline running at the same time, they would accidentally shut down each other's background helper programs (called daemons). This caused a frustrating loop of crashes and killed your active work sessions. The app is now smarter about recognizing different versions and won't shut down a background helper unless it's absolutely safe to do so.
• Smoother background updates: The app used to try swapping out its background helper program while you were still actively using it, which could cause errors. Now, it waits until the helper is completely finished with your session before replacing it.
