Cline CLI v3.0.55 Changelog

This release is all about making the app more stable while you're actively working. It matters most to developers who run long, complex tasks with AI, because it stops background updates and system glitches from interrupting their live sessions.

What's new

• See web searches happen live: When an AI model uses the internet to search for information, you can now watch those searches and their results pop up right in your chat.
• New AI models: The list of AI models you can choose from got a refresh. It adds a new company called Crusoe and updates the default models available for all providers.

Improvements

• Smoother streaming text: When the AI is typing out a reply, formatted text like bold headings, links, and code blocks now stay nicely formatted. Previously, the text would annoyingly flash back to raw code, and the chat would jump up and down as it rebuilt the whole message every time a new word arrived.
• Better cleanup: Background helper programs (called "sandbox processes") that aren't doing anything are now shut down to save memory, instead of hanging around for your whole session.
• More honest troubleshooting: The cline doctor fix tool (which helps fix technical issues) now gives you a much more accurate report. It clearly tells you if a program survived being shut down, if a background task is restarting itself, or if a file lock is actually being used rather than just "leaked."
• Removed a confusing warning: The app used to show an "outdated Hub" warning message that was broken and didn't tell you how to fix the problem, so they removed it. (The app's "Hub" is a background manager that connects different parts of the app together).

Fixes

• Fixed auto-update crashes: Before, the app would try to update itself in the background while you were working, which would swap out the software and suddenly kill your session with a connection error. Now, updates wait until you're completely finished and the app is closed.
• Fixed older versions breaking: If you were running an older version (3.0.54 or earlier), an update could accidentally restart the background Hub manager and break your session. The new update safely prevents this from happening during installation.
• Fixed multiple versions fighting: If you had two different versions of the app installed, they would get stuck in a loop shutting down each other's background managers, killing your work. The app now knows how to tell which version is newer, so only one takes charge.
• Fixed mid-handshake crashes: A newer version of the app no longer forcefully replaces the background manager while it's busy helping you. It waits and does the swap the next time you launch the app, so your session doesn't die halfway through connecting.
