This release is all about making the app more stable and less frustrating to use. It matters most to developers who use Cline heavily to connect with chat apps and AI models, giving them a smoother experience with fewer crashes and weird errors.

What's new

• In-app history management: When you view your past chat history, it now opens right inside the current screen. You can easily pick up where you left off (resume) or delete old chats without dealing with a clunky, duplicated window.
• Smarter chat connections: If Cline is connected to a messaging app (like Slack, Discord, or WhatsApp) and the underlying chat session disappears, the app used to crash and give a "session not found" error. Now, it automatically drops the broken connection and starts a fresh session so your work doesn't get interrupted.
• Plugin telemetry: Plugins (custom add-ons) can now send telemetry, which is behind-the-scenes data about how they are performing, helping developers spot issues.
• New default AI model: If you use OpenRouter (a service that routes to different AIs), the default brain is now updated to anthropic/claude-sonnet-5.

Improvements

• Accurate help menu: When you type cline --help, it now shows the actual, correct folders where your settings and data are stored, rather than guessing.
• Better handling of slow servers: Cline connects to external tools using something called MCP. Previously, if one of these tool servers was slow, Cline would give up after just 5 seconds. Now, you can set a custom time limit, so slower servers won't fail unnecessarily.
• Smarter AI reasoning: When you ask the AI to "think" before answering, the app now better manages how much time or effort different AI models spend on this, keeping it within your set budget.
• Smoother API key upgrades: Old, saved passwords (API keys) for various AI services are now automatically updated to the new format behind the scenes.
• Saved custom settings: If you had custom tweaks for older OpenAI-compatible models, those settings now correctly carry over when the app updates its internal list of models.

Fixes

• Fixed regional server settings: The toggle switch to choose between Chinese and international servers was being completely ignored for certain AI models (Qwen, Moonshot, and Z AI). This is now fixed.
• Fixed wasted AI effort: There was a glitch where the app's memory-management system (auto-compaction) was incorrectly flagged as outdated. This forced the AI to write an unnecessary summary on every single message after a certain point, slowing things down. That's fixed now.
• Fixed session checkpoints: If you saved your progress (a checkpoint) and tried to load it after resuming a session, it was breaking. This is now fixed.
• Fixed text tool errors: Sometimes, the AI tried to use tools to read or insert text into specific line numbers, but passed those numbers as text (like "5" instead of 5). The app was rudely rejecting this, but now it accepts it without erroring.
• Fixed settings file crash: If you had an older, single-file setup rule (a .clinerules file), it used to crash the app's settings scanner. The scanner now handles it gracefully.
