This update is a big deal for teams and businesses using Claude Code, especially those who want to run it on their own machines. It introduces cool new ways for Claude sessions to talk to each other and adds better security rules for sharing data. It also fixes a lot of glitches to make the whole system run smoother and safer.

What's new

  • Run Claude on your own gear: You can now use a command to turn your own computers or servers into a home for Claude Code. This is great for teams who want more control over where their data goes.
  • Chatting between sessions: Your Claude Code sessions can now send messages to each other, even if they are running on different computers. You can use a new tool to discover these sessions (currently for Mac and Linux).
  • Easier plugin installs: You can now install plugins directly from a zipped file over the internet, without needing extra software like Git or npm. You can also add a security check (a SHA-256 pin) to make sure the file is safe.
  • Safer pasting: If you try to paste something that isn't available anymore, Claude will now ask you to confirm before it changes your text.
  • Better AWS Bedrock routing: If you use AWS Bedrock to run Claude, there's a new setting to help you pick a specific regional server setup.
  • Smarter message approvals: If you have a session running with "bypassed permissions" (meaning it skips the usual safety checks), messages sent to it from another session will be held until you approve them. Messages to normal sessions go through automatically.
  • Advanced security masking: For tech admins, there are new ways to hide sensitive passwords and tokens (like AWS credentials or web tokens) so they don't accidentally leak.

Improvements

  • Better full-screen history: When Claude "compacts" (summarizes) a long chat to save memory, full-screen mode will now keep the full history of what happened before, instead of just the most recent chunk.
  • Clearer remote connections: If you are controlling Claude from your phone or web browser, you'll now see better progress bars when it's thinking or compacting. If the connection drops, you get a clear error message with a button to reconnect, rather than a quick pop-up that disappears.
  • No more bot limits: Claude used to limit you to 200 "subagents" (helper bots) per session. That cap is gone, so long-running projects won't suddenly refuse to start new helpers.
  • Less annoying approval prompts: If your company changes your login or organization, you won't get bugged to re-approve the same settings over and over if nothing has actually changed.
  • Smarter feedback sharing: If you share your chat history to give feedback to the developers, it will now also share the system instructions and settings (with your permission). It automatically hides your secrets and drops extra data if the file is too big.
  • Clearer bot warnings: The system now always reminds the AI that what it sees in the command line isn't necessarily what you see on your screen.
  • Tidier session lists: When you start a fresh session after an old one expires, the old dead session is now archived instead of cluttering up your list.

Fixes

  • Project mix-ups: Fixed a bug where projects with really long file paths (over 200 characters) would accidentally mix up their chat histories with another project that had a similar name.
  • Failed message alerts: Fixed an issue where Claude would say "Message sent!" to a teammate, even if the message actually failed to deliver. Now it shows an error.
  • Sneaky file access: Fixed a security bug where telling Claude not to read a specific folder (by adding a slash at the end, like ~/.aws/) could be bypassed on Mac and Linux.
  • Hidden sandbox errors: Fixed a problem where Claude didn't know why it was blocked from reading a file or using the internet. Now it gets a clear explanation.
  • Plugin corruption: Fixed a bug where installing the same plugin in multiple projects would secretly break the installation records.
  • Copy-paste glitches: Fixed an issue on Linux (Wayland) where highlighting text to copy it wouldn't actually make it to your clipboard.
  • Survey sharing fails: Fixed a bug where trying to share your chat history for a survey would silently fail if the chat was really long. It now shows an error if it doesn't work.
  • Remote startup errors: Fixed a glitch where starting a remote session would sometimes fail with a "credentials fetch failed" error if your login token was old.
  • Blank screens: Fixed an issue where remote controls or developer tools would show a blank "(no content)" message after clearing the screen.
  • History leaks: Fixed a bug where restarting a remote session would accidentally upload your old, private chat history into the new session.
  • VS Code extension bugs: Fixed an issue where the VS Code extension would say it was connected to remote control when it wasn't, and fixed a bug where it wouldn't start remote control even when you told it to.
  • Zombie remote sessions: Fixed a bug where resuming a session would secretly turn remote control back on, even if you had turned it off.
  • MCP tool delays: Fixed an issue where tools that connect halfway through a chat wouldn't be announced to the AI, causing delays.
  • Paste data errors: Fixed a bug where pasting old data would sometimes attach the wrong text or lose text entirely if numbers got mixed up.
