This update is all about making it faster to get a project off the ground. It matters to anyone who uses Bolt, especially if you want to skip the boring setup phase and jump straight into customizing a working app or website. It also cleans up older AI tools to make sure everyone is using the newest, best technology.
What's new
- Marketplace templates: You can now start a project from a template in the Bolt marketplace. Instead of starting from a blank screen, you can pick a pre-built project—like a website or an app—that already has working features. You can click "Preview" to test it out first, and clicking "Use template" opens it as your own project. It is free to start, but customizing the template uses "tokens" (Bolt's in-app currency for AI actions) just like any other project.
Improvements
- Upgraded AI planning: The old "Discussion Mode" is gone and has been replaced by "Plan Mode." This gives you a better way to brainstorm ideas and plan out your build strategy with the AI without accidentally changing your actual code.
Breaking changes
- v1 Agent retirement: The older AI assistant, called the v1 Agent, is completely retired. If you had an older project still using it, it has been automatically switched over to the newer "Bolt Agent." Don't worry—your project files and your past chat history with the AI are completely safe and unchanged.
