Bolt.new just rolled out an update that makes it more rewarding to share the platform with friends and easier to manage older projects. This matters most to users who want to earn a little extra cash, as well as anyone still using the older "v1" system who has been putting off upgrading to the newer Bolt Agent.
What's new
- Cash rewards for referrals: Bolt now has a referral program. If you share your personal link and a friend signs up for a paid subscription, they get 20% off, and you earn 15% of their payment (up to $50). You just need to click "Earn $50" in the sidebar and set up how you want to be paid.
Improvements
- Automatic project upgrades: If you still have projects using the older "v1 agent" (the original AI assistant system), you no longer have to update them by hand. On August 3, 2026, any remaining v1 projects will automatically switch over to the newer Bolt Agent.
- Saved chat history: When your older projects make that switch to the new system, your entire chat history is kept safe. This means the AI will still remember the context and details of what you were working on.
Fixes
- No specific bugs were mentioned in this update.
