Amp June 30, 2026 Changelog

What changed in Amp coding agent June 30, 2026, released 2026-06-30 — explained in plain English.

TLDR
  • You can now run AI agents remotely in isolated cloud environments called "orbs" instead of tying up your own computer.
  • Orbs give agents a powerful, private workspace with your code and tools, and you only pay by the minute for the time you use.
  • You can control these remote agents exactly like local ones, and even sync their work back to your computer.
  • This makes it easy to launch multiple agents at once to tackle long tasks or investigate different bugs without slowing down your machine.

What's new

  • Remote agents in orbs: Orbs are basically cloud computers that provide a fresh, isolated workspace for an agent. When you start a new conversation, the orb automatically loads up with your code, plugins, and tools so the agent has everything it needs to work on its own.
  • Easy launching: You can start a remote agent right from your command line using a simple shortcut, or directly from the Amp text interface without having to switch windows.
  • Full remote control: Even though the agent is running in the cloud, you can review its code changes, look through its files, and use a terminal to interact with the orb just like it was your own machine.
  • Work syncing: If you want to jump in and help the agent, you can instantly pull its work down to your local computer to make edits alongside it.

Improvements

  • More power, less hassle: Each orb comes with 32GB of memory and 16 processing cores. Because this is in the cloud, running heavy tests or trying out complex code won't eat up your computer's memory or slow down your other apps.
  • Fast and cost-effective: Orbs start up almost instantly and go to sleep when the work is done. They cost $1.66 per hour, but you are billed by the minute, so you only pay for the exact time the agent is actually working.
