This update is all about speed. If you use Amp for complex, long-term projects, you'll notice the AI helping you get things done way quicker than before.

Improvements

  • Faster first word: The AI now starts answering you 87% faster in deep and rush modes. (Deep and rush modes are Amp's settings for tackling harder, multi-step tasks).
  • Faster overall answers: Entire responses finish 32% faster.
  • Huge speedups for big projects: Long-horizon tasks—projects that take a lot of steps to finish—are completing up to 40% faster from the moment you hit send to the moment the AI is done.
  • Behind-the-scenes tech: Amp made these speed jumps by switching to "websockets" to talk to OpenAI. Websockets are a type of internet connection that stays open constantly, letting computers send data back and forth instantly without having to reconnect every time. They also built on some speed upgrades they made last month.
